Section 1:
Olympea. New beginnings.
(R)evolution, it's a new day
Back in 2015, Paco Rabanne proudly presented its new fragrance, Olympea. She embodied Rabanne’s conception of a contemporary femininity, intertwined with the myth of sports.
Time has flown, time has changed us. And always paving the way, Paco Rabanne turns to the legendary scent once more, continuing to evolve, to grow, and to learn; questioning what Olympea stands for in the midst of a social and generational revolution. Recontextualizing the ideal of woman, while anchoring it in a distinctly urban environment.
Obsessed by the concepts of power and beauty, the mythical fragrance is reimagined for a new generation. Reworked for right now.
A continual theme remains: sports. Forever embodying Olympéa. Audacity, confidence, attitude; values that moved Paco Rabanne then, and that sportswomen look to today.
Boundaries are pushed, statements are made. The scent must continue to embody all Paco Rabanne stands for, but it must do so meshing with today’s desire: to be contemporary, inclusive, and even closer to people’s hearts. It must represent the most renegade spirits and thus express all of Rabanne’s most colorful facets.
“By pushing the experiences to the limits, we can change mindsets”. Paco Rabanne
This is it. This is the moment we change it all.
Olympéa 2022 is coming. Rebooted and reprogrammed, a fragrance radically rewritten for the next decade – and beyond. Meet an entirely new cast, set to make this chapter even more electrifying. It’s time to begin.
Break the rules
To present Paco Rabanne’s mood to the world, a fresh film introduces the bold update.
Together with director Airton Carmignani, AKA Tino, Paco Rabanne redefines what legends are made of, in a completely new visual language. Fronted by the new star face Luna Bijl, alongside a larger cast of athletes, the film traces inevitable links with the great sports legends of the past. Myth-like Olympic game champions who forever inspire the young legends of today, such as Jesse Owens, the African-American sprinter who amazed the world in 1936 by winning four Olympic medals in Berlin; and John McEnroe, who made a splash by advancing to the 1977 Wimbledon semifinals at just 18 years of age. Tino shines a light on the heroism and complexities that define us as everyday champions, reaffirming the wonders of humanity in the face of challenge.
The gripping film is showcased alongside Vo Williams’ confident, empowering track, Greatness. It’s a rap story with vivid vision, with loud power, inspired by those who turn a seemingly unrealistic dream into unapologetic greatness. Vo’s fierce lyrics, legendary in the making, shatter the mold and breathe alongside all that Invictus and Olympéa symbolizes.
Vo himself strives for daily greatness – an LA-based rapper, singer, songwriter, composer and performer who is a pioneer of the emerging genre Epic Hip Hop. Standing on the front lines of a revolution for hip hop within film, Vo’s passion is to create powerful music with scale, vivid emotional tonality and lasting impact. It doesn’t get more Paco Rabanne than that.
Section 2:
I Am Olympéa.
A calling that’s higher.
#IAmOlympéa stands for the passionate and self-appointed.
She is the brightest face of Olympéa, covered with golden laurels. Olympéa Solar enlightens the power surrounding her and becomes one with her immense radiance. Her endless, dazzling sensuality and triumphal stance make her nothing short of unstoppable.
Glory to its zenith
An enduring dream of woman. Celebrating her strength, diverse beauty and self-confidence. Today, Paco Rabanne reimagines the Olympéa femininity, rewriting what it symbolizes for all of the epic women today. It’s higher, and brighter; a promise for the future that’s coming. Luminous and sharp, like a ray of sunlight, marking its path with strength and boldness. Sensual and round, like the ‘o’ in Paco, like the sun at its zenith.
Olympéa is sublime power. And it stands for all the passionate, commanding women who own their achievements and are proud of their enduring journey. It’s a message in a bottle, a triumph of radiance. Olympéa champions the brightest personalities, uniting them in glory. For Paco Rabanne, it’s all about embodying the brightest facets of womanhood – radiating energy, intensity and sensuality.
Isn’t it obvious, then, that she is covered with golden laurels? Simply dazzling with her glorious femininity.
Paving the road: Luna Bijl
Meet Olympéa’s new face, Luna Bijl. Greatness is all about taking risks. Paco Rabanne knows it, and Luna Bijl does too.
Dutch born and bred, 24-year old model Luna aptly wears dazzling metallics in the new commercial. Paco Rabanne’s golden girl. Currently ranked one of the “Top 50” models in the fashion industry, she’s on a stratospheric ascension to the top. What’s even more impressive is that she’s a natural-born trailblazer. If at first glance, you’re mesmerized by her powerful stare and understated glamor, wait until she tells you about her obsessions. Behind anv effortless, down-to-earth nature lies the fearlessness of a motocross and kickboxing force to be reckoned with.
Bijl’s father practiced motocross his whole life and so did his father, and so, she guesses, “it’s just in my blood.” Luna started taking part in competitions in quadcross at just 12, going to motocross events every weekend. It was a big part of her life, seeing her always covered in dirt, far from the dreams of covering a fashion magazine or walking a Fashion Week runway show – or becoming the face on an iconic perfume. Today, Luna continues to motocross with her dad for fun in her free time. “I’m addicted to the feeling and the adrenaline,” she admits.
Yes, she’s modeled for great designers, covered Vogue Paris twice in one year (the first model ever to do so) and she’s gained a 2017 Models.com “Model of the Year” nomination with eight Vogue covers under her belt in 2018 alone. But she’s more than a muse. She’s determined, strong and she’s fun. She sweats it out in the gym almost every day.
She’s a country girl at heart, yet she gravitates towards the opportunities and open-mindedness of the city. She loves being outside and keeping active. And her mantra? Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.
Statuesque and strong, she inherently represents all that Olympéa stands for. Like a modern Amazon, radiating her glorious presence with her very distinctive, very Luna style.
Section 3:
Olympéa Solar.
Into the light
Olympéa Solar. A name is all it takes to tell the story of the most radiant fragrance in the Paco Rabanne universe, imagined for the ultimate, luminous beauties out there. Certainly fit for a goddess and enchanting on all who wear it.
Solar stands for fierceness, independence, confidence. But more importantly, it’s a symbol of higher power, of multi-faceted energy, of the warmth and strength shared by womanhood. Always. And today.
An Amazonian Goddess is born
“I lay myself bare and I understand myself better.” Anne Flipo
Like all strong women, star perfumer Anne Flipo is forever in search of her masterpiece. She lives permanently in a state of introspection, to vanquish the art of composition, to bring pleasure and create something beautiful and timeless.
Flipo savors life and, when it comes to perfumery, she simply cannot stop.
“The Olympéa woman is a goddess. I encapsulated her by a striking solar accord, then drew a mineral note, like a bridge between earth and sky.” Anne Flipo
Smell it to believe it. Olympéa Solar is the most luminous burst of sensuality you’ve ever breathed in.
For the dazzling new fragrance, perfumer Anne Flipo worked with a gorgeous olfactory vision: that of a field of flowers, sparkling under the sun’s zenith.
She writes the code. Starting with bright citrus, the sparkling energy of mandarin peel and orange, which feels like a smile, comforting and bedazzling all at once. Orange, associated with joy, sunshine and the tropics, represents for Paco Rabanne, enthusiasm, creativity, happiness and determination. In heraldics, the color indicates one’s strength and endurance.
Rapidly, the scent’s top notes transform into a majestic solar accord of stunning ylang-ylang, bright heady white blossom and exotic, sensual gardenia at the heart. The latter symbolizes purity and gentleness, a harbinger of good luck since the 18th century. Not that she needs it. She’s got this.
Then it hits you. She’s a goddess. The minerality of oakmoss brings a dimension of invincibility, supported by the addition of fragrant benzoin at its base. It’s a subtle clash, one that embraces a radiant bouquet of florals with the arresting sexiness of aromatics. Composed with ingredients of 90% natural origin, it is a vegan scent, in harmony with the earth – just like her.
One thing’s for sure: Olympéa Solar fully transports you to the perfect shiny spot on a radiant day. It’s sexy. It’s unapologetic. It exists to make you feel in tune with your inner beauty.
Taking our dreams (and bringing them to life)
Taking pride of place on her dressing table, the Olympéa scent appears golden – just like her – in luxurious, heavy, rounded glass. Reminiscent of the brightest star, with its luminous liquid, you come full circle. She rests triumphantly on a pedestal, again like a nod to a rising sun, with her striking silhouette inspired by the iconic and sensuous designs of Paco Rabanne over the decades.
Laid on top, pointing upwards, is the curved, gold-rimmed cap. The final invitation that reminds us: “I’m an Amazonian goddess – always remember that”.
