The
encounter of the elements with water.
L’Eau
d’Issey Pivoine and l’Eau d’Issey pour Homme Vétiver tell the story of this
olfactory saga with Issey Miyake’s signature lyricism.
The story of what happens when water, a clean and pure essence meets an element from nature, be it flora or fauna.
In 2023, the perfume house presents two stunning new fragrances: L’Eau d’Issey Pivoine and l’Eau d’Issey pour Homme Vétiver. Two launches that celebrate nature in all its beauty, starting with water, of course, but also ushering in lush, vibrant florals and the intensity of vetiver.
With
vegan formulas made up of 87% ingredients of natural origin, nature is not only
transformed and enhanced by our techniques, but also elevated to its pure,
authentic form.
Marie
Salamagne, perfumer at Firmenich, has carefully refined each facet of these
ingredients to unleash all their power and beauty and elicit a deep emotional
response.
This emphasis on nature also finds its way into the bottle design, with the iconic Eaux d’Issey bottles now topped with caps made of 100% wood, for a pleasantly unique tactile experience.
Natural
to the core
For
thirty years now, Issey Miyake perfumes have been celebrating nature in all its
forms and manifestations. This unconditional love for nature can now be seen in
a commitment towards tangible actions towards its preservation.
Since L’Eau
d’Issey Pivoine and l’Eau d’Issey pour Homme Vétiver pay a special ode to the
elements, the brand has chosen to amplify its efforts towards ensuring the
sustainability of the line.
As a result, L’Eau d’Issey Pivoine is made up of 87% ingredients of natural origin, while this proportion for L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme Vétiver is even higher, at 93%. These ingredients are exclusively sourced in a manner that respects the principles of fair trade and are responsibly harvested. For instance, vetiver root is sourced from a small-scale farm in Haiti where it is extracted after a 12-month growth period in a way that the crop residue can be replanted into the soil for the next harvest. The fragrances are not only vegan, but the scent stabilizers used in the compositions feature only non-controversial ingredients.
The signature design of the packaging has also been revamped to make it more environmentally friendly. The bottles that house these two new fragrances are now made of 20% recycled glass and their covers are made entirely from natural wood with no plastic components whatsoever. What’s more, this wood is itself sourced from sustainably managed forests to minimize environmental impact. Thanks to this choice, the risk of marine pollution is lowered by 99% and water consumption during manufacturing is also brought down by over 95%. Not to mention that significantly less energy is used up in the process (70% lower for the female version), resulting in a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions (79% lower for the female version). A creative yet technically astute innovation that has been patented by the house. Nature is beautiful, and Issey Miyake endeavors to celebrate and protect it in all its glory.
L’Eau
d’Issey Pivoine
A radiant symbol of the return of sunny days, peonies have an unparalleled charm. Unfortunately, their delightful scent cannot be directly extracted from the flower. But perfumer Marie Salamagne turned even this obstacle into an opportunity to reconstitute a blend that would mimic its vibrant radiance and colorful petals. The result is a naturally floral – and aquatic, of course! – aromatic blast of spring with a unique peony blend made entirely of natural ingredients like rose and pear. White raspberries add a deliciously juicy and mischievous touch to the bouquet, which is rooted in a cedarwood base that magnifies and completes its fragrance trail.
L’Eau
d’Issey pour Homme Vétiver
Vetiver is the most elegant of all the woody notes. In this new Eau d’Issey, the Haitian plant unfurls its woody warmth in all its sensual abundance. A splash of water faces off with its powerful scent like a burst of freshness, bringing a fluid and rippling momentum to the composition. Almost as if water, along with pungent ginger and pure clary sage, were making the wood vibrate and dance. A crisp, essential composition that pays tribute to the elements and is sure to invite instant addiction.
A
powerful campaign, true to the brand’s values
For this
exclusive collection, Issey Miyake underscores its commitment to the elements, which
emerge once again as the ambassadors of a clean, pure and pared-down campaign. Immersed
in water, peony and vetiver appear poised to infuse it with their potent,
soulful aromas. Gentle ripples go through the water, cool and calm, as the
elements subtly release their qualities to bring it to life. The delicate
petals of the peony are enhanced, and each strand of vetiver is outlined:
nature comes to life, more vibrant than ever before. Naturally, the bottles – primarily made from responsibly-sourced materials that pay an ode to
nature – combine with the elements to create compositions that
bursting with sensual delight.
