INVICTUS

Section 1:

Invictus. New beginnings.

(R)evolution, it's a new day

Back in 2013, Paco Rabanne dropped a (legendary) bomb: Invictus. An unapologetic vision of victorious masculinity. A powerful fragrance, known the world over.

Time has flown, time has changed us. Paving the way, Paco Rabanne turns to the legendary scents once more, continuing to evolve, to grow, and to learn; questioning what Invictus stands for in the midst of a social and generational revolution. Recontextualizing the ideal of man, while anchoring it in a distinctly urban environment.

Obsessed by the concepts of power and beauty, the mythical fragrance is reimagined for a new generation. Reworked for right now.

A continual theme remains: sports. Forever embodying Invictus. Audacity, confidence, attitude; values that moved Paco Rabanne then, and that sportsmen look to today.

Boundaries are pushed, statements are made. The scent must continue to embody all Paco Rabanne stands for, but it must do so meshing with today’s desire: to be contemporary, inclusive, and even closer to people’s hearts. It must represent the most renegade spirits and thus express all of Rabanne’s most colorful facets.

“By pushing the experiences to the limits, we can change mindsets.” Paco Rabanne

This is it. This is the moment we change it all.

Invictus 2022 is coming. Rebooted and reprogrammed, a fragrance radically rewritten for the next decade – and beyond. Meet an entirely new cast, set to make this new chapter even more electrifying. It’s time to begin.

Break the rules

To present Paco Rabanne’s mood to the world, a fresh film introduces the bold update.

Together with director Airton Carmignani, AKA Tino, Paco Rabanne redefines what legends are made of, in a completely new visual language. Fronted by the new star face Jalen Green alongside a larger cast of athletes, the film traces the inevitable links with the great sports legends of the past. Myth-like Olympic game champions who forever inspire the young legends of today, such as Jesse Owens, the African-American sprinter who amazed the world in 1936 by winning four Olympic medals in Berlin; and John McEnroe, who made a splash by advancing to the 1977 Wimbledon semifinals at just 18 years of age. Tino shines a light on the heroism and complexities that define us as everyday champions, reaffirming the wonders of humanity in the face of challenge.

The gripping film is showcased alongside Vo Williams’ confident, empowering track, Greatness. It’s a rap story with vivid vision, with loud power, inspired by those who turn a seemingly unrealistic dream into unapologetic greatness. Vo’s fierce lyrics, legendary in the making, shatter the mold and breathe alongside all that Invictus symbolizes.

Vo himself strives for daily greatness, an LA-based rapper, singer, songwriter, composer and performer who is a pioneer of the emerging genre Epic Hip Hop. Standing on the front lines of a revolution for Hip Hop within film, Vo’s passion is to create powerful music with scale, vivid emotional tonality and lasting impact. It doesn’t get more Paco Rabanne than that.

Section 2:

I Am Invictus.

Feels like greatness.

#IAmInvictus is for the passionate, the everyday winners, the motivated ones. Those who unlearn and relearn, who fall down to get back up again, stronger. Whoever you are: embrace the Invictus motto and lose yourself to victory.

A victory whose face has changed: going beyond the boundaries of sports, speaking the universal language of those who possess the will to conquer and achieve. #IAmInvictus transcends individuals into a singular movement personifying strength.

Set the tone

Invictus. A fragrance, a declaration, a message of worthiness. Re-imagining Invictus means rethinking what it stands for. But without straying too far from the source.

Ultimately, Invictus is for those who never stop winning. That’s easy to say. Yet when you look closely, winning is everything but easy. It’s a constant struggle – one we’re all proud of, but wish we experienced less. We fall and get back up, we fail and we try again. It’s physical, it’s emotional, it’s getting creative with the cards you’re dealt with.

Paco Rabanne does it again. Finding greatness in the imperfections, pushing everyone to go farther than what’s asked of them. With Invictus,

Rabanne goes after the everyday heroes, those with laser-like focus, those motivated to win, win, and win again. Using Rabanne’s polished universal language, Invictus is transformed into a statement, a manifesto, an invitation to embody the will to achieve and conquer.

This begins with the impressive cast of athletes, and inspires a wider movement of like-minded individuals, transcending barriers, proud to share their belonging. It’s as simple as three words: I AM GREATNESS. Amotto, a mantra, a belief you can lose yourself in. Repeated with gusto, repeated after every failure and every success. A reminder that, no matter the cost nor the circumstance, you are your own champion. And Invictus is, without a doubt, your very own purveyor of your unique greatness. Invictus is the fragrance that traces a familiar, distinctive path – towards victory.

Legendary in the making: Jalen Green

Paco Rabanne introduces a new icon, Jalen Green. The fresh face of one of the world’s most recognizable fragrances, with an authentic story to tell. At age 20, a rising talent, highly precocious. Jalen is an up-and-coming star, a professional basketball player who hails from California, newly famed for his hard-working, driven, dedicated attitude. It is what makes him famous on and off the court. And it is also why Paco Rabanne was set on making him the new face for Invictus. The timing was perfect, given that Jalen has been recently drafted by the Houston Rockets as the “2 nd” overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft. A victory.

Jalen: now an NBA star and the new face of contemporary sports à la Paco Rabanne. A captivating stare, an infectious energy, and more importantly, an unwavering motivation that’s amazing to witness. He took an unprecedented journey into the G League – the NBA’s official minor league, which gives young prospects a chance to begin their professional careers while receiving mentorship – prior to transitioning into the NBA. Jalen made history by being one of the first athletes to turn down top college offers, pursuing his goals with a non-traditional, yet go-getter attitude. It’s sure to inspire many more young athletes to chase their dreams without the rulebook. And, in his own words, “I’m working to rewrite my goals, and my story, learning to be the best version of myself for myself.” It’s a brave and bold statement, one that echoes the words manifested by the new Invictus.

Jalen’s story began in California and, by sixth grade, he was playing Amateur Athletic Union basketball. Even as a young kid, he’d practice for five hours each day – an exceptional energy that inspires all ages. Green continued to thrive throughout his adolescence and represents the United States internationally. He made his national team debut for the US at the 2017 FIBA Under-16 Americas Championship in Formosa, Argentina, and helped his team win the gold medal. He was named MVP of the 2018 FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup in Argentina after winning the gold medal, and won another gold medal with the United States at the 2019 FIBA Under-19 Basketball Cup in Greece. Not only this, he was ranked by ESPN as the No.1 basketball recruit in the Class of 2020. The youngest member of his team, with power beyond his age. An embodiment of modern masculinity.

Jalen primarily plays as a shooting guard and is known for his elite athleticism, handling skills and his versatile scoring abilities that make him an on- and off-the-ball threat in a half-court setting. He has been compared to the greats like Kobe Bryant, and is magnetic to watch – with an explosive first step, which allows him to attack the rim and speed past on-ball defenders.

Son, brother, star, Jalen Green soars – and his journey, on and off the court, is only just beginning.

About to emerge

A legend is not complete without his crew. Channeling the Invictus message via diverse and complementary voices was important to the ongoing project. In fact, giving visibility to minorities from different universes seemed like an essential part of the campaign, the way the Paco Rabanne team had imagined and breathed it. It’s why Jalen Green will be joined by five more inspiring young men, all starring in the main film as well as in a series of engaging and energizing testimonials.

Meet the multidimensional superstar team. Professional footballer Ouissem Belgacem, who has shown racism the red card and is testament to the freedom of self-expression. Daniel Caverzaschi, the Paralympic Spanish tennis player repeatedly defying the odds. Model and martial arts champion Soulivan Baur. And finally, Greek top model Iasonas Laios and Gen Z rising-star, model Nicolas Pene.

Together, they represent the strong values of Invictus as one. Bounded by a personal – and collective – strength, they share with us the daily obstacles they face, and their constant pursuit of victory.

It’s a radical change for Paco Rabanne, sharing with the world a more varied expression of modern masculinity. A masculinity that’s new and diverse, more complex, and decidedly uplifting.

Section 3:

Invictus Platinum.

The future belongs to the fearless

Welcome to the next chapter for Invictus. From the heady heritage of the iconic power scent comes a new, daring statement. A striking fragrance created for the new players: Invictus Platinum, one step closer to greatness.

And with omnipresent victory in reach, Platinum is bigger, bolder and more intense than ever before. Galvanizing, for sure, it’s a scent for epic achievers. And a scent for everyone that’s trying to be their best. Without revealing too much, it’s Invictus to the power of Rabanne, all the more vivifying and ready to take on new challenges.

The juice that favors the bold

Inspired by sports legends who never give up, Paco Rabanne Invictus Platinum, crafted by Domitille Michalon-Bertier, is the striking new eau de parfum – exclusively for those who always meet the challenge.

With everyday winners firmly in mind (and heart), perfumer Domitille has crafted a scent reminiscent of unwavering grit, of energy made liquid. A fragrance that undoubtedly stimulates the senses and pushes you to your limits. Designed as a greatness-booster, this invigorating elixir explodes with elegant lavender, the flowers representing purity, grace and devotion. Lavender’s impressive purple shade is also associated with the crown chakra, the energy center for higher purpose – for greatness.

The scent is laced with an intense minty freshness, which symbolizes virtue in the language of flowers. Vibrating on a high note, juicy, invigorating grapefruit stirred with absinth leads the way to the rich, masculine tones of patchouli , which grounds and balances, alongside cypress – the tree with an impressive height, standing between earth and the world beyond, inviting us to ponder the deeper meaning of our life experience. A woody finish is the perfect ending to this complex cocktail of power and confidence. For the new Invictus man.

There’s a radical quality to the aromatic, earthy and addictive juice. With a nod to the original Invictus (all hail the King), the new Platinum variation balances dense minerality and smokiness, bringing a more contemporary, empowered signature to the fragrance line. Naturally, the scent is vegan and it has been composed with ingredients of 90% natural origin, drawing from the Earth that shapes us.

“I wanted to capture the addictive dimension of a resinous wood and imagine a metallic potion out of it.” Domitille Michalon-Bertier

The scent genius Domitille herself soaks up creativity wherever she turns. Drinking in the inspiration, absorbing it, inspired by it, understanding it – powered by it. For her, a scent is everything. Impressions, memories, imaginations. A new sensory world to explore. The nose behind Invictus Legend and Invictus Victory, she brings her perfumer identity and expertise forward for Invictus Platinum, losing herself in the world of this powerful fragrance once more.

“We have to savor every moment of life’s delights.” Domitille Michalon-Bertier

Completing the trilogy

Before the scent of 2022, came the original Invictus and Invictus Victory. Imagine the challenge faced, the competition won, tense muscles beginning to relax, as a wild roar rises in the stadium. This heightened adrenaline and fresh sense of elation, powerfully building, is where the sensational men’s fragrance first began. Breathe deeply, inhale the scent of victory.

“A fragrance should be as heavy with meaning as it is light to wear.” Paco Rabanne

Invictus

Invictus began with star perfumer Véronique Nyberg, who gathered a team of three more exceptional perfumers with signature styles: Anne Flipo, Olivier Polge and Dominique Ropion. A huge team effort and two and a half years of research later, and the euphoric accord was unveiled.

In stark contrast to traditional men’s fragrances, Invictus is a sensually fresh composition, an extremely textured scent with pronounced depth and base. Neither a transparent summer splash nor a traditional cologne. The usual scent pyramid was discarded in favor of a rule-breaking two-layered entity. Invictus – a clash of worlds, powers, sensations and values with a fresh woody scent, both muscular and spicy.

\"We were really aiming for salty skin – but without any smell of the ocean – that would make you want to taste it, lick it. A sharp contrast between two families that play off each other, mingle, and create tension.\" Véronique Nyberg

A sense of ecstasy takes off in vibrant, invigorating, refreshing flight – achieved with a beachy marine accord, zingy grapefruit zest and aromatic bay leaf. The addictive quality comes from woody amber accord, enhanced with guaiac wood, ambergris and patchouli. From the beginning, Invictus surprises, stands out, emboldens.

Invictus Victory

Building on Invictus’ success, came the gloriously haloed Invictus Victory – celebrating that life really is full of victories, daily wins that may seem like only small achievements or sometimes wild master strokes. Matched only by your own dexterity and your strength, Invictus Victory is a winning fragrance – the smell of triumph.

It is an extreme and powerful eau de parfum, which continues the intense duality between two forces at odds: freshness and intensity. Crafted by Paco Rabanne. The impactful vibrancy is embodied through a lively citrus scent, boosted with potent intensity as it’s wrapped with heady incense. Then comes the softness of vanilla, interestingly entwined and suitably backed by the sweetness of tonka bean, which creates a mysterious, balmy and wholly captivating effect. Take it in. The final score? An oriental flavor that’s bold but easy to wear, masculine by nature.

Invictus Victory is magnetic, simply unstoppable – like the man who wears it. A scent that promises to leave a powerfully hypnotizing trail in its wake.

Reach out and take it: the winning trophy

You can’t always reinvent the wheel, but you can definitely make it one hell of a ride. You’re almost there, a few steps away from winning. What’s motivating you? What’s waiting for you at the end of the game?

There it is, sitting on a podium – you can almost reach it. The Platinum trophy. Arguably the most iconic fragrance design of all time, now emblazoned with Invictus’ legendary wings. Embossed, and super-glossy, spread out and ready to fly to new horizons. It’s impressive, arresting and eye-catching. Fitting for all who deserve a cup (or several).

The glass is bathed in a fitting platinum-hued lacquer. Hold it in your hand, and feel the weight of luxury glass, as it reveals the most intense shades of gray. Rub your fingers across the ridged, chromed crown, and repeat to yourself: I made it.
